European Youth Cup – L’argentiere, France (Boulder)

European Youth Cup – L’argentiere, France (Boulder)

Last year I competed in the L’Argentiere EYBC and it was one of the most fun experiences I have had with the GB team. Despite the really hot weather the climbing was always very exciting! We flew to Marseille again and drove 3hours to the hotel just outside┬áL’Argentiere. As usual we had a day to relax before the competition which unusually was over the Tuesday and Wednesday this time. The weather was beautiful as usual and so we spent an…

Junior British Bouldering Championships 2017

Junior British Bouldering Championships 2017

The depot Manchester is always my favourite centre for boulder comps. The massive amount of wall space means less queues and a lot less stress. Youth B and C qualifying was first as usual. 8 blocs in 2 hours, scramble format. I liked that in this competition all our boulders were in the same room so we could see them all without having to walk between rooms. My qualification went pretty smoothly and for once I finished before the time…

First bouldering EYC of the year Soure, Portugal (2017)

First bouldering EYC of the year Soure, Portugal (2017)

My first European Youth Cup of this year was in Soure, Portugal and it was also my first international podium. This is my second year in category B and seeing as I made finals in both the bouldering EYC’s I entered last year I was hoping for a really good result. We travelled out on the Thursday afternoon, flying from Luton airport to Lisbon, Portugal. There was a slight complication with the hire car so we arrived at the hotel…

European Youth Cup (Bouldering) L’Argentiere 2016

On Saturday I travelled down to London with my parents. I was dropped off at a Premier Inn near Gatwick Airport where I met Tom (GB bouldering team coach) and some other members of the team. We were flying the following day and needed to get up at 4! We got up at 4:30 and only just made it downstairs on time. The rest of the team were ready so we all walked to the bus stop and took a…

European Youth Cup (Bouldering) Graz 2016

Day 1 and 2 Last weekend was my first ever bouldering EYC, held in Graz, Austria. I flew out to Austria with the GB team on Thursday. It was a very small team going to this competition, only 4 competitors. Holly, Martha, Silvia and me. Our two chaperones/coaches were Tom and Michelle. We arrived at Vienna airport in the afternoon and then got our hire car and drove straight to Graz. On Friday I got up late and after breakfast…

Junior British Bouldering Championships (JBBC) 2016

After school on Friday my mum and I drove up to Manchester for the Junior British Boulder Championships 2016 which was being held in the depot. It was an early start on Saturday. I wanted to be there early so we could…

Open Youth Bouldering March 2016 – The Depot Manchester

Open Youth Bouldering March 2016 – The Depot Manchester

Another early start and a drive over to Manchester from Liverpool. The bouldering competition was in my new favourite centre The Depot. It is a really nice centre, very new. It has every type of angle and it looks really professional. When we arrived I registered and went straight to look at he blocs. There were 8 qualifying routes and only a few looked really horrible. Climbing started at 9am so I warmed up as soon as I had looked…

Blokfest February 2016

Blokfest February 2016

On Saturday I went to bloc climbing centre bristol for the Blokfest event. It was raining when we arrived so my dad dropped me off at the entrance with my brother. We filled out the forms and got our  t-shirts. We then had half an hour to warm up. I used the warm up I learnt in the GB team meeting as it had worked really well before. While people were getting a briefing I was warming up. As soon…

Petzen International Climbing Trophy 2015

Petzen International Climbing Trophy 2015

Day 1 – Travel Half way through the long drive to London Stand-stead airport the traffic got really bad. Google said we were going to arrive 40mins before our flight which was worrying but it managed to reroute quickly so we were there in enough time. My coach Simon and his girlfriend Liz were already there and boarding. After the short flight to Bratislava we all went down to the car hire place. Originally we were going to hire 2 cars…

Youth Bouldering Championships 2015 – Bloc (Bristol)

Youth Bouldering Championships 2015 – Bloc (Bristol)

On Saturday 27th June I went to the Junior British Bouldering Championship and Junior British Bouldering Cup. It was held in Bloc climbing Centre where I boulder sometimes. I came first overall on the day meaning I am Junior British Bouldering Champion 2015 of category C. As I only entered rounds 1 and 3 because I was competing in the YCCF in Imst, I could only get a maximum of 200 points. I got 200 points because I won rounds…
