European Youth Cup – L’argentiere, France (Boulder)

European Youth Cup – L’argentiere, France (Boulder)

Last year I competed in the L’Argentiere EYBC and it was one of the most fun experiences I have had with the GB team. Despite the really hot weather the climbing was always very exciting! We flew to Marseille again and drove 3hours to the hotel just outside┬áL’Argentiere. As usual we had a day to relax before the competition which unusually was over the Tuesday and Wednesday this time. The weather was beautiful as usual and so we spent an…

European Youth Cup (EYC) Imst June 2017

European Youth Cup (EYC) Imst June 2017

This European Youth Cup (EYC) has pretty much become our annual holiday. Every year Imst Climbing Centre holds an IFSC EYC and the following weekend holds their own competition, the Youth Color Climbing Festival for kids too young to compete in EYCs. The week in between these two comps has always fallen on the UK half term holiday, which meant we could stay out and train on Austria’s incredible walls! We travelled out on the Thursday afternoon, flying from Luton airport to Lisbon, Portugal. There was a slight complication with the hire car so we arrived at the hotel…

We were flying the following day and needed to get up at 4! We got up at 4:30 and only just made it downstairs on time. The rest of the team were ready so we all walked to the bus stop and took a…

My First Leading European Youth Cup (EYC)

My First Leading European Youth Cup (EYC)

Day 1 – The Journey On Wednesday 25th my family and I started a 14 hour car journey to a small town in Austria called Imst. The reason we were all going was because the first weekend I was competing in my first ever EYC (European youth cup) for leading. We decided to stay out for the week because the following weekend my little brother was competing in a different competition, The Youth Color Climbing Festival at the same place….
