European Youth Cup – Sofia, Bulgaria (Boulder)

European Youth Cup – Sofia, Bulgaria (Boulder)

The Bulgaria European Youth Cup was held in the capital city Sofia. It was one of the best sets of blocs I have been on and had some very unique holds. After landing in Sofia very late I was relieved it was only a 10minute drive to the hotel. ¬†As usual we arrived a day in advance to acclimatise to the weather and time difference of the country. I was especially grateful of this in Sofia as I didn’t manage…

European Youth Cup (EYC) Imst June 2017

European Youth Cup (EYC) Imst June 2017

This European Youth Cup (EYC) has pretty much become our annual holiday. Every year Imst Climbing Centre holds an IFSC EYC and the following weekend holds their own competition, the Youth Color Climbing Festival for kids too young to compete in EYCs. The week in between these two comps has always fallen on the UK half term holiday, which meant we could stay out and train on Austria’s incredible walls! The competition wall in Imst opened at 7:30 but I…

Grand Opening of The Hangout Climbing Wall (Haverfordwest)

Grand Opening of The Hangout Climbing Wall (Haverfordwest)

Earlier this month I was invited to the opening of The Hangout climbing wall in Haverfordwest leisure centre. My Gran lives close to the leisure centre so we drove  to her house and stayed the night with her. We went to the leisure centre the next morning to get ready for the opening of the centre. The hall was quite tall and half of it was a gymnastics area. To the right was the wall. It looked amazing. There was…

Deep Water Solo Exeter 2015

On Thursday we drove down to Exeter for the DWS competition at the Quay.  We stayed in the Premier Inn next to the station and brought our bike so that we could cycle along the river to the quay. There was a La Sportiva boot demo at the quay climbing centre where we tried on some different La Sportive shoes. It was quite late after the boot demo so we went back to the hotel. The competition didn’t start until…

BMC Sport Climbing Day – At Foxhole Cove

BMC Sport Climbing Day – At Foxhole Cove

Yesterday I got up early to drive down to the Gower for the BMC “Learn to Sport Climb” course! I met Simon Rawlinson (my coach) in the car park by Foxhole Cove. We met Simon at 9:00am and he led us down to Foxhole Cove. It was quite a steep route and my Mum struggled to get down it! When we got down Foxhole Cove it looked quite small but when I got closer I saw it was actually quite…
